Red Light, Green Light

Sitting at a traffic light this morning, fingers tapping the steering wheel waiting for the light to change--I thought to myself what an obvious metaphor a traffic light was for life. Some days it's all green lights and Go
where everything runs smooth as butter and for a few precious moments you think "yea, this is easy, I got this". Then you have those days, or worse, years, where you're stuck at the red light. Stop, No Go......just interminable waiting. Stuck in a bad marriage or a bad job--or both. A life filled with endless hassles that leave your nerves shot and your hair gray. You can only hope that eventually the light will change....or you can go for broke and just blow the red light altogether leaving everything behind in the traffic. Idiots wait for the change in signal, not you--you make your own rules.
Then you always have the yellow light. Caution, move warily ahead because you just never know. You get lucky and you make it by.....usually with any good fortune you hope for the next stop to be green so you can proceed and keep going.
Me? I never pass up a chance to blow through the yellow light ....real fast. Hell no, I am not waiting for a red light to stop me.
